Summary

Capgemini runs Experience Centres in Mumbai and Hyderabad. We installed HoloBox units in both so that leaders based in France can appear live, at full height, in front of clients and teams in India, without travelling.

The same units also carry architecture walkthroughs, digital twin demos, pitch sessions, internal briefings and pilots of new formats. We run the capture, streaming and post-production.

The brief: three problems for two Experience Centres

The people who close deals were on another continent

An Experience Centre earns its budget on the days a client visits. The leaders whose presence carries those meetings are based in France, and their diaries were the real constraint.

What Capgemini sells has no physical form

Consulting and engineering work cannot be put on a plinth. Visitors are asked to buy something they cannot see, in a room built to show them things.

Both centres had to offer the same experience

Mumbai and Hyderabad are sold as the same capability. A room that impresses in one city and disappoints in the other would cost credibility.

What we built

HoloBox is an 86-inch 4K transparent LCD enclosure that shows a photorealistic figure at human height. Nobody needs a headset or 3D glasses, the hall lights stay on, and everyone in the room sees the same figure at once.

For Capgemini the point is presence. A leader in France appears in Mumbai and Hyderabad through holographic telepresence, also known as holoportation or a hologram video call.

How live hologram streaming works

The speaker stands in front of a camera and a green backdrop. Chroma key removes the backdrop live, leaving only the person. The figure is streamed to the HoloBox at up to 2K over Ethernet, WiFi or 4G and appears inside the enclosure at human height. Afterwards, we edit the recorded session.

Both centres run the same sequence, so a leader can appear in Mumbai and Hyderabad at the same time.

One unit, six jobs

Each unit handles six kinds of session with no reconfiguration between them:

  • Live streaming and virtual presenters: a leader in France addresses the room in Mumbai at full height. This is the use the deployment was built around.
  • Platform architecture walkthroughs: a reference architecture stands in the room as stacked tiers a client can point at, instead of a slide of boxes and arrows.
  • Digital twin and engineering demos: an engineering twin turns at desk height with its readings running beside it.
  • Bid and client pitch sessions: a bid team brings the practice lead into the room at full height, wherever they are, without a flight.
  • Internal briefings and induction: the unit that hosts a client in the morning can brief new joiners in the afternoon.
  • New format pilots: the Centre of Excellence can trial new formats on hardware it already owns.

How it works day to day

Each HoloBox needs mains power and a network line. Live sessions run over Ethernet, WiFi or 4G; when nothing is live, media plays from the unit itself. There is no truss, no lighting rig and no need to darken the room.

A live session needs a capture rig at the speaker’s end, a connectivity check and a rehearsal. We handle hardware, content, streaming and live show management, so Capgemini deals with one team rather than three.

Results

  • Leaders in France give addresses, briefings and keynotes in India without travelling.
  • Visitors meet a live person at full height who can answer them, not a recording.
  • Mumbai and Hyderabad offer the same experience.
  • One purchase serves both client visits and internal audiences.

Frequently asked questions

Can a leader in France appear in Mumbai and Hyderabad at once?

Yes. The capture rig is set up where the speaker is, and the live figure is streamed to the HoloBox units in both Experience Centres at the same time.

Do viewers need headsets or 3D glasses?

No. The whole room sees the same figure at the same moment with the naked eye. Headsets serve one person at a time and take time to fit, which does not suit a room of client visitors.

Can a hologram meeting replace travel?

For addresses, briefings and keynotes, it already does at Capgemini. The speaker presents from wherever they are, and the audience gets a person at full height who can respond to them live.

What does a HoloBox need to run?

Mains power, plus an Ethernet, WiFi or 4G line for live sessions. Without a live session, media plays from the unit. Full specifications are in the HoloBox brochure.

How long does deployment take?

It depends on scope. A live session needs a capture rig, a connectivity check and a rehearsal. A permanent installation is scheduled around the site and its access.

Can we put a HoloBox in our own experience centre?

Yes. That is what Capgemini did. The unit installs into an existing space and is self-contained. Talk to our team about your requirements.
